Nearly Nine

Only two more days.

And my little girl will turn 9 years old.

To most of you turning 9 is probably not a birthday that you remember or made a particularly big fuss over when your little ones were apporaching it. It's not like turning 13 or 16 or 21. But to me turning 9 is a big deal. Not so much for my daughter as it is for me.

Once my beautiful little girl turns 9 years old I will only have 365 days of her being a single digit.

And then she'll be 10.

She will have one last year when people will allow her to act imaginatively. 12 more months of giggling at everything she reads and see. 365 more days of being childish and free.

After that year others around her will expect her to behave differently. That makes me sad. I hope she is able to hold on to her joyful childlike happiness.

That is what makes my s'ghetti girl special.

If I could give my soon-to-be 9 year old joyfulled daughter some advice as I wish her a Happy Birthday it would be, to hold on to her passion and excitement over everything just as she is now.  I'd remind her to keep her smile easy and to continue to give it freely.  I'd want her to know that she should hold on to those things that are special to her no matter what those around her are doing.

S'ghetti girl stay just like you are a warm loving imaginative smile all wrapped up in pink!

I love you!

  1. My oldest just turned 9 in April. Scary how fast that happens. They have to grow up too fast as it is. If only they could stay little. She's a cutie :)

  13. Nine is a special age in our house. We see growing independence and accepting responsibility for successes and failures.

    Happy Birthday , s'ghetti-girl.
