Thanks to everyone for the wonderful comments on my last post. It helps to know that others have dealt with support/family issues and found ways to make it all balance.
This morning I was out for a short run (3.5 / 27:42). It would be nice to say I got out before the heat but it seems to not cool down anymore. I did enjoy getting out in the morning to start the day.
I didn't like the thought that 6 a.m. seemed early to me, knowing that Saturday will be much much earlier!
Is it odd that my biggest worry for the race on Saturday is the start time?
Not the hills. Not the heat. Not the distance.
Just the super early morning.
That was my biggest worry for Disney too! We had to wake up at 2am two days in a row in order to catch the shuttles and get there on time for the 5:50am start. But you know what? It wasn't as bad as we anticipated! Adrenaline will get you going.
ReplyDeletehaha to the start being the worry. i think that's a good thing :) to me it means youre well prepared for everything else :)
ReplyDeleteYeah early start times are the worst. Disney was 4:30. Too early for me! You are going to do great and I can't wait to hear how you rock this 50 miler!
ReplyDeleteEarly start times are hard. I can't drink coffee before I run, so it seems to take a lot longer than usual to wake up.
ReplyDeleteJust think how much cooler it is with an early start :) I actually love being up when the rest of the world is asleep. I tell myself I'm strong - that's why I'm up and everyone is in bed. Running when the rest of the world is resting, means that you will beat them if they decide to race you ;0) Good Luck
ReplyDeleteA super early start time IS tough to deal with. If you start int he pre-dawn, it feels like you really don't get to sleep the night before. So, sleep well tonight!
ReplyDeleteI too am no fan of an uber early start. You're so ready though you'll be perfectly fine!
ReplyDeleteIf the start time is all you are worried about, you will do great! You have obviously trained for this one! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm positive all of your hard work and training have certainly paid off! Good luck and can't wait to read the race report!!
ReplyDeleteEarlier than 6am!! Ugh...
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I'm sure you'll do great:)
Early starts are great because you have another excuse to nap after - and everyone else will be tired so you can. At least, that is what happens in our house.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your race!
Running early is the only way to run with this heat! But you're right: it's almost as if it doesn't cool off anymore...
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to run to keep my cool as a mom.
