Please Get Me Outta the Kitchen

The weekend is a wonderful series of days. The ability to wake up whenever I want, to allow the kids to sleep in and to enjoy a breakfast together without anyone having to rush out the door.

On the surface doesn't it all sound so nice?  Yeah.  Fairy tales always do.  Because once you spoil your family with the "Big Breakfast" it's like that book, If you give a pig a pancake or  If you give a mouse a cookie because I think I was guilty of doing both this weekend.

Don't expect to see me posting about weight loss anytime soon

After our I'll-never-lose-this-extra-weight breakfast, I made the mistake of trying this recipe from Pinterest.  I mean I'm on there pinning away I probably should do some of the things I thing look soooo interesting, right?  But that just started the ball rolling and set my family's expectations for the rest of the weekend's menu.

 A spicy lasagna soup

Who knew making sushi rice was such a pain

Needless to say there was a bit a running to help work off some of our over indulgences, followed by an ice bath to soothe my tired legs.  Hopefully my family has had their fill of all the extras just like that little pig because my belly is starting to look a little bit like a piggy's.  Maybe I need to start pinning a few more workouts next time I am on Pinterest.

One Found Sock Monkey and Other Randomness

There was so much fabulous around here I'll have to bullet it all to keep from writing a novel.
  • The phone rings.  The super secret spy is having someone over for dinner.  Is that ok?  That evening.  Loved that I was able to pull it all off!

  • Things I find while running: A silver Christmas ornament, a pair of barbie sunglasses, a metal toy airplane, a laundry basket full of little boy undershorts, a pastel striped sock monkey.
  •

  • LBM slept in his own bed last night.  Enough said.
  •  The super secret spy starts a new temporary job in one week.  It is something he will love doing.  Fingers crossed that he does a fabulous job and makes the switch permanent.
  • My Palm Pre was on it's last leg so the super secret spy took the new phone need opportunity and moved me to Virgin Mobile.  They suck.  There's a Facebook Page.  Go prove me right.  The HTC phone via Virgin Mobile, it sucks.  What did you really think I would have gone all weekend and it was all fabulous?  Seriously.
  • I have watched The Lorax half a dozen times over the weekend.  My children are addicted.  And even though we have more than enough tvs in this house I am watching it too and liking it.  I'll never grow up.

  • I torn my shoe when I fell on the trail a few weeks ago.  I have kept wearing those shoes now both shoes have holes in them.  I guess it's time to break out a new pair.  Maybe these babies?
I wonder if Saucony will ever forgive me?

Debbie Downer

Lately I feel like my name should be Debbie as in Downer.  Need proof?

1.  Based on the feedback my last post put a downer spin on the Big Move.  Even though I am actually excited the change and the new opportunities it will bring.

2.  I spent the majority of the weekend Boo-hooing the fact that I couldn't get a sitter worked out for the Catch Me If You Can 10 miler that, until this past Saturday, I held the Female Master's record in.  Well, I still hold the record but a new runner took the Master's title this year.

3.  While I was trying to make everyone happy this weekend I ended up disappointing everyone instead.
Examples:  Sleep over wasn't long enough.

Friends didn't get to come to the soccer game with us.

Couldn't stay at the play ground like usual.

Almost completely miss my sister's baby shower.  Forgot her presents.

Some days you just want to get back into bed.

BUT today is a new day.

Today I will be a Susie Sunshine and learn from my weekend.

1.  I am one day closer to the Big Move and can't wait to see what new things my family will be able to enjoy together.

2.  Almost certainly, there will be another race.

3.  Often when I try to do too many things at one time, I don't do any of them very well.  So next time I'll learn to say no before I over commit myself.

4.  Today is day # 722 and I am only days away from knowing if my first 100 will be Massanutten Mountain Trails or not.  Either way I'm going to be thrilled to simply know and move forward.

How do you bounce back from a "bad" weekend?

Monday MisMash

Seventy mile week are becoming the new norm

I successfully took a running rest day this past week.
See that little tiny 3 mile day.
It is a huge accomplishment for me.  Almost on par with successfully cross training.
not the I accomplished that too baby steps people
I did however get my long run in on Sunday which I am completely shocked that I did.
The big miles, the run streaking, the kids, the husband, the big girl job, the date on the calendar, all combine to completely exhaust me this week.  I entered the weekend simply needing a break but knowing that I had to get my B2B started on Sunday.
So when Friday came I was all too ready to allow my wake up miles to be my only run of the day.
Followed by....
Roller derby may be in my future

More Roller Skating!
I think my family should form a team.
We were so busy having a blast that I forgot to take photos.  Luckily the oldest snapped some to share.

The hay barn is completely down

After many hours on my feet between running and rolling, I was ready to put my feet up and enjoy our surprise snow storm.  The weather couldn't have been more beautiful.  It was a peaceful end to a very full day.

The other things I do

You might think with all the running to get ready in the hopes of getting into the Massanuetten Mountain Trails 100
 I'm currently at 72
that I would not have time for anything else.
Well you'd be wrong.
This weekend we celebrated another family tradition as we gathered for my mom's birthday.
We went bowling!

My oldest did great.  It might have something to do with the bumpers in his lane.

The super secret spy and LBM worked together.

LBM got his first strike!

My mama with her birthday bowling pin.

We spent a lot of time doing hill repeats, I mean sledding.

We even had time to get S'ghetti girls new soccer shoes.
They have just the right amount of pink for kicking Grass, right?

And I also ran a little bit...
more than I had planned.

It was a great weekend to cap off and epic week!
