Ending the year on a high note

Last night I was figuring out my yearly mileage.  I keep my workouts recorded in several places.

I am old school and still write it on a paper calendar.
I use an spreadsheet based program on my computer.
I also use DailyMile to record and network with other runners.

The numbers didn't add up.
I thought at first the error was due to DMs lovely rounded but I actually forgot to enter a run in June into my computer database.  That is usually where I get my totals.
So this morning I knew I only have to run 7.4 miles to hit 3000 for the year.

I did what any runner would do.  I ran 9.
While the number of miles really doesn't show anything about my running year it was a fun way to not slack as if the HBBC wasn't keeping me going enough!

Now the next milestone will be on the 30th when I hit 600 days on my running streak.
Always something to look forward to, right?

What are you looking forward to as the year ends?
Or are you just glad to have 2011 over?

  2. Old school! Funny, I was doing the same thing last night. I love the visuals that DM has but I'm thinking that I'm going to go back to a paper log this year so that I can compare from one year to the next more easily.
    Three thousand miles! Wow!

  3. That so TOTALLY ROCKS that it is just unbelievable ! 3000 miles in a single year (not to mention the awesome 600 days in a row...I'd struggle with six). I love reading your blog, you are so inspiring, yet low-key about your accomplishments. Here's wishing you a very Happy New Year !!

  4. I always look forward to New Year's Eve (although that's not running related). Right now, I am just looking forward to getting well and being able to actually go for a run - hopefully soon! Congrats on 3000 miles - incredible!

  10. You rock! And I love that you chose 9 miles!

Question - when you started your awesome streak, what was your initial requirement for how many miles you wanted/needed to run each day (minimum)?

    Happy New Year!

  11. I only use Daily Mile, so any miles I ran before I joined are lost. Can you believe I used to just RUN and not even record my mileage? Haha. :)

    Wishing you even better 2012!

(I really like RunningAhead.com for logging in workouts - you can categorize your runs, keep track of equipment, weather, and so on)
