File this under....

...kids say the darnedest things.
After a long busy day at work I was eager to get home and pound out some frustration through my feet.
My daughter was her usual chatter box-self.

"Mom, I can tell what natural animal every person has inside." she tells me.

"Oh really."  I say
"I am a kitty, brother is a turtle and you are a dog." she says.
"I'm a dog?!  What makes you think I am a dog." I ask.
"Your short hair cut."
I ask, "What about my hair cut makes you think I am look like a dog?"
After a pause,  (considering whether or not to be honest ?)  "Your hair makes you like you have puppy ears." she finally says.

She could have a good point!

After that confidence boosting exchange I feed her brussel sprouts for supper and headed out for my run with LBM.  I enjoyed his baby jibberish the entire run.  But wondered if he was agreeing with his sister about my haircut.
It was so hot and humid and I DID take water!  See I can learn.  My shirt is completely soaked and I was exhausted when I finally got to stop.  6.5 miles of sweat (51:32)

After my run it was LBM's turn to rack up the miles.  He decided to do some speed work with Mom chasing him.
How great it would be to have him running beside me in the years to come.   S'ghetti girl would not join us for a run.  She was hiding inside enjoy an entire evening with NO homework!

LBM says, "Mom you don't look at all like a dog.  Now let me win!"

30 in 3 and 50 in 5 and a little.

Please notice:  I listen to the birds.  New fresh workout gear!

I am done.
For the week anyway.
I got my last run in this afternoon to hit my 50 miles.
yipee.
Oh, I would work up a bit more enthusiasm but I am just beat.
I did my last 6.5 miles fast 47:36.  Remember I have been working on endurance this week.
I felt I was going to barf at the top of the second hill but I didn't.
Probably because I had so little in me to come up but I did it.

I also got my 30 miles in 3 days in.
Each day I ran 3.5 miles in the morning and finished with my 6.5 mile loop in the evening.
My times were interesting to me.  I wonder if fatigue plays a factor or if conditions and mental toughness are what really affect me.
Tuesday morning - 3.5 26:00 - no stroller, rain/fog
Tuesday evening - 6.5 51:46 - stroller, rain/fog
Wednesday morning - 3.5 28:50, stroller, rain/fog
Wednesday evening - 6.5 52:34 stroller, rain/fog
Thursday morning - 3.5 29:29, stroller, dizzle/fog
Thursday evening - 6.5 51:42, stroller, drizzle/fog (after school activity and with biking sherpa)

My morning runs got slower but my evening runs didn't.  The week as a whole is all over the place for pace.  I often think my pace has more to do with how much I want it versus how fast I can run.

Have you ever thought the same of yourself?

Biking sherpa thought my pig tails in the wind and my crazy sweat marks were soooo funny I had to share them.  The price of a biking sherpa to encourage me when I am tired.

Oh well, here is me with crazy sweaty pig tails running at night, in the rain and wind with the jogging stroller and biking sherpa to keep me moving.
Thanks biking sherpa!

The Gross Truth

We had an unexpected suprise last night.  Hubbs got home!  Although he had appointments to take care of we were all happy to get a little extra time with him.
Bug-man (littlest) and I went to a quick 6.5 mile loop (52:11) hoping that hubbs would be able to get a little rest since he is working nights right now but when we returned he had not been able to fall back to sleep and he had to leave for an appointment.
The kids and I tried to get a new spring header photo taken but the camera (or my photographer) kept focusing on the lovely yellow traffic sign instead of little Bug-man and I.
For your entertainment, here are a few failed photos.

Oh!  You noticed that I am AGAIN in my redish pink One More Mile Kick Assphalt shirt and capris with my bondi bond over my visor.  That's right I get stuck on an outfit and wear it to death!
In fact this morning I got a solo run of 3.5 miles (27:22) and I wore the exact same thing!
Here is the gross truth.  Prepare yourself.
Since I run so many doubles I often wear the same outfit in the evening that I wore in the morning.
Okay.  Get over it.
You would think that I would have amassed a huge supply of running outfit.
Not.
I tend to be so entrenched in my routines that it carries over into what I wear.
But I am trying to change.
TMB @ Racing with Babes showered some bloggy love on little ole' me this morning!  She inspires me to want to care more about how I look while I am out there sweating up a river.
When I grow up I want to look just like her...neon and all!
Thanks TMB!

I get to share the love with five wonderfully inspiring bloggies.

Blue, Red and Orange

You might be happy that this picture is a little dark since I look just so lovely after 10 treadmill sweaty miles.  But I really wanted to show you just how lovely I look when I run inside where no one can see me.  The sad things is that you don't see the bright orange shorts I have on.  You are missing out.  I wonder if I can squeeze a few more colors in there some where?

I had a great week of almost exclusively running on the treadmill.  No.  The treadmill was not the great part.  The running was.  With all our snow days I was able (read bored) and logged some long treadmill runs.  Not as enjoyable as being outside but when the drifts are higher than my head and the wind is howling, getting to run at all is amazing.

With another snow storm in the forecast for Monday I will be pounding the treadmill for a little while longer.  Rocking my amazingly non-color coordinated running gear.

When you run at home do you care about your outfit or do you dress to sweat?

November 27th - Friday

After my long run Thursday I took Friday off and got some things done around the house. Finally. We have a pellet stove so hubbs and my brother-in-law picked up 2 ton of pellets for over this winter which I know will eventually arrive. Hubbs had to head back to work in the afternoon. He wasn't home nearly long enough!

After hubbs left I realized that our cat, Perc hadn't come to eat that evening. Our cat never leaves the house. She is naive to the wild outside world. She sits and terrorizes the birds outside our windows knowing that she is really a terrifying predator, if only she could get out. I search the house. No kitty. I search outside. No kitty. I panic. The weather is to really get cold over night. I send out an email and post on Facebook. I call my neighbors to be on the look out. I sit out her food to try and tempt her. No sign of her all night.

November 28th - Saturday

We planned to go see a movie in the afternoon so I go out for my favorite run early in the day. 6.5 miles 52:11/8:02 It was not an enjoyable run. It was cold and windy. Have I ever mentioned. I.do.not.like.wind.

Middle daughter, littlest and I go see A Christmas Carol. I will clarify. My middle one saw the movie. Littlest and I saw the previews, the hall way, the bathrooms, the vending machines, the movie, the hallway, the other movie theaters, the hallway, the movie, the vending machines...you get the idea. It was still an enjoyable evening.

November 29th - Sunday

Today I was eager to enjoy what turned out to be an amazing weather day. 60 degrees!! Okay there was w.i.n.d. but not as strong as on Saturday. So I ran 13 miles. 1:40:41/7:45 I so wish I could run the race (Nittany Valley Half Marathon) this coming weekend at the pace. I hold no delusions regarding the difficulty of the course so I will temper my goals based in reality. 1:40 would be great but won't be my first tier goal.

I got a package in the mail. After I open the lovely plastic wrapper I found this nicely tied package inside.

I ordered from a website, www.onemoremile.net I ordered2 tees and a visor (no photo of my visor, sorry - it's white and reads 'Running is cheaper than therapy') The shirts are super comfy. This time of year I am usually running with an Under Armor base layer and a shirt over so these will be great. I like making a statement with my shirts. In a race it's usually good for an extra photo or two.

What a great long weekend. Ugh! I have to go to work tomorrow a.m. Glad to have a job but it's hard to go back after the long weekend. Tomorrow morning is the first day of deer season so I may not be able to go for a run safely. I will have to wait and see what the morning holds. Maybe the treadmill. Hopefully a short extra early run.
