When you change the things you look at, the things you look at change.
When I am running down the road I have the time to notice the little things that I often over look as I go about all the other aspects of my day.
I see the beautiful area I live in from a perspective a little closer to the ground. I enjoy seeing the subtle changes and appreciating some of the beauty in unexpected things.
Today there was beauty in so many things along my way. The new baby goats, the Canadian geese, the rich smell of the creek, the apple tree fully in bloom, the cows in the pasture, the driver who slowed and waved, the smell of the lilac bushes. It is amazing how much beauty can be found in less than thirty minutes.
What beautiful things did you see along your run today?

ReplyDeleteI didn't run today but I jumped around the living room with my oldest son doing Plyometrics! We did move some alfalfa mulch today and it smelled wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteI love that you saw so much beauty!
That's why I run where I do - full of beauty. And sometimes people just need to "look" for it. It's out there everywhere, if we just look for it. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy beautiful thing was a hearing not a seeing thing. I ran up Mt Coottha which is basically bush and heard whip birds calling. Such a pretty sound!
ReplyDeleteSince I ran on my treadmill, the only beautiful thing I saw was my own reflection in the mirror ...
ReplyDeleteLet's see, I saw construction workers, plenty of cars, a dog that tries to nip my ankles, a painter touching up a local sign, cracked sidewalk, a sunset and many smiling faces of those I was running with. Not so much natural beauty, but works for me. ;)
ReplyDeleteI haven't ran today yet but I think I will see the screen of my treadmill - so sad. It's rainy today. BUT if there is a lull later in the rain, I will go outside. I hate the treadmill now. so weird.
ReplyDeletePS on our walk to the post office today, my son picked a million of those dandelion seed things. I have to blow on all of them because he can't. Takes us forever to get anywhere but it's fantastic.
Exactly the reason that I love to run outside. There were so many more tiny changes when I'd run on the trails in PA as opposed to the pavement of AZ, but I can't wait to be overwhelmed by the beauty of it when I'm back soon!
ReplyDeleteThe beauty of the mountains all around me here tend to just wrap me up at times. It still amazes me that I could be somewhere with rocky mountains all the time!
I ran last night in a place that I had not run before and I loved looking at all the scenery and flowers all over the place :)
ReplyDeleteUmmm, sometimes I see dead lizards? Not purty? You're right. Suburban South Florida doesn't have a whole lot of natural beauty; it's mostly swampy. The beach is nice though.
ReplyDeleteGreat post. My friend and I were just talking this morning about how great it is to see a rainbow on a run or flowers on the trees!
ReplyDeleteI love that you always take time to notice the beautiful things on your run. I'm too busy watching my boys and focussing that I miss a lot (but not the bunny which suddenly crossed the jogger on Saturday night - yikes!)
ReplyDeleteWay to take time to notice the small things! I am a new runner and that is one of my goals is to not just get stuck running but to take time to notice the surroundings I'm running in :)
