I'm not in his clique

Right now as I sit here at work, I am feeling my hip.

Okay.  I am not actually rubbing my hands all over my hip.
That would be weird.
But I am noticing my hip.

Usually my hip is just there doing it's own hip thing.
We don't talk much.
I guess I'm just not in my hip's social clique.
Whatever.
But today hip seems to be saying something.
Quietly but saying something.

I know my form has been off since I took my big fall.
I really tweaked my leg from my ankle to my knee and I bounced around on my right hip.
But my hip was just bruised.

I am thinking about taking my evening run off.
Okay there I said it.

I have already run my morning miles so I am good for the day.
My mileage is good as long as I stick to my miles the rest of the week and even if I have a lighter week now I'd be okay with that since I have a great base and a month until the Ultra.
Gee am I trying to convince you or me?

Hummm.  I better go.  That's hip talking again.
I'm going to send hip some drugs and see if that shuts him up.
And maybe an evening's rest.

I did what I do

LBM and I did what we do.  We went for our run.
We were one second slower than Wednesday night's run.
I am doing a bit better at the run slower to run faster idea even though I really don't think with the type of races I am doing currently, I am overly concerned with pace.
Since I am breaking new ground for me and running new races every finish line is a PR of sorts.
Not that I truly care.

Right now I am enjoying another run completed, day dreaming about how hard challenging almost frightening great the Xterra Xduro Trail race is going to be and feeling the breeze and the sun as I rest in this hammock.

They can two by two...

...the flooding is not quite that bad but it is enough to cut off some of my regular running routes.  I know you might be thinking that I just ran a 33 mile race that involved repeatedly running through water so what is a little 7 miles with wet shoes?  Right.

Right now I am content to walk around and see the change in the scenery.
I am content to experince the rich smells that the heavy rain and flooding brings.
I am content to watch the raising water and dream of dry trails and sunshine.

I am content knowing that I will run even stronger tomorrow having taken this afternoon to rest.

What do you do on rainy weekend days?

Update on racing plans.
Charlottesville Ten Miler in April 3rd
Anyone else running that race?
I am looking at the Capon Valley Trail 50k in May.
Anyone with experince on that race?

Just beat the rain

I got out for another short run 3.5 miles with littlest in the jogger.  I am so glad I did!  Now it is raining and flooding and trying to blow the house away.  Ok only a few things that were left outside actually blew away but it feels like the whole house wants to go!

Hubbs and the kiddos went to his folks to visit so I may use the remainder of the afternoon to finally rest from my race.  (spend large amounts of time searching for my next fix trail race!)

But what better weather to do it in than a rainy cold windy gray day?!
