They can two by two...

...the flooding is not quite that bad but it is enough to cut off some of my regular running routes.  I know you might be thinking that I just ran a 33 mile race that involved repeatedly running through water so what is a little 7 miles with wet shoes?  Right.

Right now I am content to walk around and see the change in the scenery.
I am content to experince the rich smells that the heavy rain and flooding brings.
I am content to watch the raising water and dream of dry trails and sunshine.

I am content knowing that I will run even stronger tomorrow having taken this afternoon to rest.

What do you do on rainy weekend days?

Update on racing plans.
Charlottesville Ten Miler in April 3rd
Anyone else running that race?
I am looking at the Capon Valley Trail 50k in May.
Anyone with experince on that race?

  1. You could have always crosstrained with a swim ...

I was going to do the Charlottesville 10 miler, but my team got into the Cherry Blossom 10 miler the following weekend.

  2. wow! thats quite a bit of rain! I agree that you might want to take up swimming!
    Have a great afternoon :)

  3. Is that rising flood waters from snow melt?? Or is it all rain? That's a LOT of water, we never see that in Colorado unless we have a flash flood, like mega water in micro minutes - which happens in the spring from time to time. CO rarely GETs rain so it's a big deal for me to go out in it and run since I don't have to often. Glad you took the day off and your upcoming races sound awesome! I got your sweet email and will get back to you soon, thanks for that, it made my day :). Not doing any of those runs, unfortunately...but one day we must get in a good looooong run together, if you promise to run sloooooow with me :).

  4. holy water! thats some insane flooding!!!

  5. WOW, look at all that water! I hope the flooding doesn't cause any issues for you!

  6. I'm impressed with your flooding - we had the same a week ago where 30% of the state was in flood. Climate change?!!

  7. Wow! Those pics are pretty something! It floods where I live sometimes but it hasn't recently thank goodness.

  8. That's some serious flooding!

  9. That's a lot of water...ugh. Enjoy the rest!

  10. I'd love to do the C'ville race, but we are out of town that weekend.

That's a heck of a lot of water - looks more like you would have been swimming today instead of running.

  11. Oh, I thought we had a lot of rain. Hopefully the sun and wind will follow to dry everything up.

  12. look at all that water. wow! be careful!
running wet socks is the worst thing ever!
hopefully all that will dry up soon.

    have a great week. :)

  13. WOW! That is a lot of water! I hope everything dries up for you quickly! Have a wonderful week :-)

  14. My front yard is a swimming pool. So much flooding where I live but I am grateful because many people are out of their homes. :(

On the plus side...it is not snow!

  15. Wow that is a lot of water! We had a lot of rain last week too. My kids were out in the large "pond" that is now in our backyard! Needless to say they came in very dirty! :)

I don't have a tread mill so if it is just too bad to get out and run then I just take it as a day off! But I haven't had to miss a run due to weather in a long time.

    Happy running!

  16. I do not blame you for not running in that! God only knows what is floating in it!
Hope you enjoyed your rest day - you totally deserve it!

  17. WOW--that is some crazy flooding! I was considering the Ch'ville 10 miler but not sure my foot has recovered from the Disney half. I hope its better weather for you!
