Game On

Just when I think I stuck, when I want to hide in the bathroom and cry my eyes out, when I want to literally
the skies brighten and amazingly things just work out.

Okay they didn't magically just worked out but after many several plans failed, I finally have a plan for making sure the kiddos have a great time while I am out in the woods frolicking with my trail brethren.  Thanks to my sisters and my mom the kiddos will be having a blast spending time with family.  They will be happily cheering me on in spirit which will ease my mind so I can focus on my race.

Armed with a grateful heart I headed out for a quick p.m. run.  Although I had already ran 10 miles this morning before The Plan came together, another run would give me a chance to test out my fresh pair of Saucony Trail shoes that I will be wearing on Saturday.

It is amazing how light I can feel with the weigh of worry lifted from my shoulders.
Now it's just that little detail of running 50 miles...

The Topic of the Day

Today is a day that many, if not all of us will pause to remember.  To perhaps be thankful for everything in our lives.  The big.  The small.  The easy.  The hard.  All of it together makes us who we are so lucky to get to be.  Today we will all acknowledge that in an instant it can all be gone.

I am thankful for my ability to find such happiness in tiny things.  My prayer would be that I can somehow share that ability with those around.  So I start that sharing with my kids and hope that they will take that ability with them through their lives.  Then in a tiny way I will have helped create some happiness in their every day lives.

Maybe you will go out a run 9.11 miles today (not a bad idea) or maybe you will volunteer your time to help someone else.  Maybe you will spend the day in prayer or in talking with others who need a friend.  What ever you do today do it on purpose.  Do it with intention.  Do it knowing that the ability to do whatever you choose to do is an ability and a privilege that many others do not have.

If you are in the mood to help others, my little red-haired (oh but he says it's orange) nephew is trying to win entry in his soccer camp at Challenger Sports  Click HERE to vote for this little cutie.

love at first sight

It's happened to me three times in my lifetime.  Each time it happened I didn't look my best.  They didn't look their best and yet we were transfixed by each other.  Unaware of the chaos that had transpired only moments ago.

Yes for me it was love at first sight
when each of my children were born.

Thank you kids (S., A., & M.) for blessing me with the opportunity to be your mother.
Enjoy your family this weekend as you celebrate being a mother and having one!

A Thanks-filled Day

I am thankful for...

The ability, time and will power to run races that I only dreamed about doing.

A little boy who creates fun out of not listening.

A daughter who tells me everything she ever hears, thinks or believes.

A husband who gives up so much so that we can be safe.

A faith that is with me even when I doubt.

A son, now a man, who fills me with pride.

Miles and miles and miles - thanks to jogging stroller - with my favorite running buddy.

Races with my husband!

My mommy.

A good night's sleep.

A love of reading.

Little feet that might follow me.

The change of the seasons.

A big family full of love that keeps growing.
